Liverpool - Manchester City Betting: Aguero and Toure can inspire Pellegrini's men at Anfield
After suffering their first defeat in 19 matches and exiting the Europa League in midweek, Brendan Rodgers must pick his side up as the reigning champions roll into town
Liverpool and Manchester City both tasted defeat in Europe this week, with the Reds exiting the Europa League on penalties after losing to Besiktas 1-0 after extra time. City are still in the Champions League but, after a 2-1 home defeat by Barcelona, they have a huge amount to do to turn the tie around at Camp Nou.

Brendan Rodgers will now turn his attention to the top four in the Premier League and the FA Cup, as they go in search of a successful season after a difficult start.

The Reds put themselves well in contention for a Champions League spot in their last league game, beating Southampton away in impressive fashion. That win means that they are now two points away from Manchester United in fourth and three from Arsenal in third.

Liverpool have won their last three games in all competitions at home, with William Hill pricing them at 15/8 (2.88) to make it four.

City were outplayed by Barcelona for large parts of the game but showed spirit with 10 men to keep themselves in the tie thanks to a Sergio Aguero goal and Joe Hart's late penalty save.

After failing to win in four matches in the league from mid January to early February, Manuel Pellegrini's side have turned things round in recent weeks, thrashing Stoke City away 4-1 and following up with a sensational performance at home against Newcastle, beating them 5-0.

With Yaya Toure welcomed back for the Newcastle game, City looked extremely confident, taking the game to the Toon from the off. William Hill price them at 11/8 (2.38) to win and 12/5 (3.40) to grab a draw.

With City having two extra days rest than Liverpool, they will hope that their conditioning proves a vital factor, with the champions desperately needing a victory to keep the pressure on Chelsea, who contest the League Cup final on Sunday.

Instead of backing the visitors to claim a win, it's worth staying safe and siding with them to net a couple of goals, with the over 1.5 Manchester City goals at 23/20 (2.15) offering value with William Hill.

With Pellegrini's side not struggling in front of goal on the road this season, netting at least twice in nine of their last 13 away games, you can expect goals from the visitors.

With nine goals scored in their last two league games and Aguero coming back to full fitness paired with Toure's return to the side, the visitors should be able to create plenty of opportunities against a home side facing a very quick turnaround from their Europa League exploits.

This bet would have paid out against Liverpool in three of their last five league games at home, with Tottenham, Leicester City and Arsenal all netting twice at Anfield.

When you consider that this bet has paid out in the last six competitive meetings between the sides, it's tough to ignore the price.
